Instructions
- Prepare the Bread: Cut each slice of bread into 4 sticks and set aside to use for dipping.
- Make the Egg Mixture: In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, half and half, sugar, vanilla, and salt until fully combined.
- Prepare the Coating: In a separate bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon for the coating and set aside.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a skillet over medium heat and add 1/2 tablespoon butter, allowing it to melt and evenly coat the pan.
- Cook the Toast Sticks: Dunk each bread stick into the egg mixture, letting excess drip off, then place in the hot skillet making sure to leave enough space. Cook each side until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side.
- Coat in Cinnamon Sugar: Remove cooked sticks and immediately roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated, then place on a serving tray.
- Repeat Cooking Process: Continue cooking remaining bread sticks, adding more butter to the skillet as needed, and roll them in cinnamon sugar as well.
- Serve: Serve the warm French toast sticks with maple syrup, if desired.
